Back to the Future: The Musical is set to make its Australian premiere at the Sydney Lyric Theatre starting September 26, 2025. This new musical adaptation is based on the beloved film trilogy by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. Produced by the original creators, it offers an electrifying journey back in time to the fictional town of Hill Valley.
Starring Tony Award-winner Roger Bart reprising his role of Doc Brown, and rising star Axel Duffy as Marty McFly, the musical features a talented cast including Ashleigh Rubenach as Lorraine Baines, Ethan Jones as George McFly, and Javon King as Goldie Wilson. Follow Marty McFly as he is transported back to 1955 and races to fix history and return to the future.
This acclaimed production, winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Musical in London, is praised for its energy and adaptation of the original story. It features impressive musical numbers and set design, running approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes including an interval.
The Sydney Lyric Theatre offers an enhanced experience with Lyric Deluxe tickets, which include a souvenir program, champagne, chocolates, and ice cream. Performances run from September 2025 to January 2026, providing ample opportunity to enjoy this vibrant and nostalgic event.
