South Australian duo, 'Motus Collective' returns to the Adelaide Fringe with a world premiere. In collaboration with sculptor Nicholas Hanisch, ‘The Leftovers’ combines virtuosic contemporary dance and unique sculpture installation, resulting in a quirky, heartwarming dive into what makes us human.
‘The Leftovers’ is based on The Ship of Theseus, a philosophical thought experiment that poses the question: if every plank of a wooden ship is slowly replaced, at what point does it become a different ship? What parts of the ship do we consider crucial to its identity as that original ship? Every seven years the cells in our bodies completely regenerate. Where do the selves go that we leave behind? Are we the same people that we once were?
